Richard J. Bafaro, 68, of Worcester passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 18th 2014 with his dear family by his side after a long illness. Richie was born in Worcester, a son of Frank and Mary (Pingatore) Bafaro. He grew up and graduated from South High School. Richie then joined the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War serving in Panama. Upon return to Worcester, Richie worked as a pipe fitter for his brother's company; JJ Bafaro Company. He then met and married Patricia Sbrogna, and for the next 30 years devoted his life to her and his work before retiring. Richie is survived by his wife Patricia; two brothers, Joseph J. Bafaro of Shrewsbury and Francis Bafaro of Worcester; two sisters, Sara M. Howard of Shrewsbury and Theresa M. Bafaro of Worcester; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A brother, Carl "Tony" Bafaro and sister Lorraine Blais both pre deceased him. Richie was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. He enjoyed basketball and football and watching the New England Patriots games. Family was very important to Richard and being with them were the happiest times in his life. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Saturday, March 22nd from 8:00 am to 10:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. followed by a procession to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in St. John's Mausoleum.
