John A. Bizzarro, 92, formerly of 61 Frank Street passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Saturday, March 15th 2014 joining in heaven his wife Raffeala who passed away in May of 2013 after a brief period of declining health. John was born in Worcester, one of nine children of Antonio and Concetta (Clemente) Bizzarro and has lived all his life in Worcester. John met and married Raffaela (Shippole) Bizzarro, and together they spent the next 57 years happily married until Raffaela passed away. John is survived by his sister, Eleanor "Lena" D"Elia; Many nieces, and nephews who loved him dearly, extended family members and friends. Besides his wife Raffaela, four brothers, Jerry, Domenic, Carl and Anthony Bizzarro and three sisters, Philomena Nelson, Louise Delle Femine and Regina Chesmulavich all predeceased him. John worked many years for WPI before retiring in 1986. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, Italian food, and singing. He was very proud of his Italian heritage and his large extended family. John was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, and the Pope John Council Knights of Columbus. John's funeral will be celebrated, Wednesday, March 19th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a procession to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry Street where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Raffaela in Notre Dame Mausoleum. A period of calling hours will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the funeral home prior to leaving for church. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances may be made in his name to the Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church renovation fund, 24 Mulberry St. Worcester 01604.
