Marie A. (Turo) Lanava, loving mother, grandmother, sister and beautiful spirit passed away peacefully on March 12, 2014 in UMass Memorial Medical Center. She was 83 years old. Her beloved husband of 40 years, Anthony W. Lanava passed away May 15, 2000. Marie is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Lanava-Gence and her husband Bernard of Paris, France; two brothers, Romeo Turo of Shrewsbury and Stephen Turo of Grafton; two grandsons, Charles and Alexander Gence of Paris, France and many nieces nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by four brothers, Michael, Frank, Joseph and Leo Turo; a sister, Rita Robinstein and a nephew, John Turo. Marie was born in Worcester, daughter of Pasquale and Raffella (Marzo) Turo and was a graduate of Commerce High School. She was an employee of the city of Worcester for 20 years. Family, friends, and others whose lives Marie touched are invited to MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury. Marie will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband in St. John Cemetery, Worcester.
