Francis J. Sacco, 83, of Quinebaug, CT., a devoted husband, loving father, respected grandfather and loyal friend was called home on the beautiful morning of Tuesday, February 25, 2014, where he will be in peace in the kingdom of our Lord. Francis was surrounded by his family who wept in sorrow only relieved to know that he would no longer have to suffer in the pain of a battle so bravely fought. Francis was so gently handed to our Lord and Savior. Francis found his most joyous times just being in the company of his wife of fifty four years, Doris A. (Martin) Sacco originally from Brockton, MA. Besides his wife of fifty four years, he leaves his eldest son Mark R. Sacco of Worcester, Mark's son & daughter-in-law Justin and Laura Sacco of Boston; his only daughter, Sandra Sacco of Worcester and her daughter Cierra of Beverly, who was bonded with a love that could overcome all obstacles; and his youngest son, LCDR Christopher M. Sacco, USN (Ret) and his wife Julie and their children, PFC Christopher A. Sacco, USA, Amanda and Matthew all of Maryland. He leaves a brother, Robert Sacco of Dudley and a sister, Martha Nadeau of Worcester. He is predeceased by parents, Arthur and Elizabeth (Stellato) Sacco and a brother, Arthur Sacco, Jr. Francis was the proud owner of FJ Sacco & Sons and a member of IUOE Local 4 for over 50 years. His work was a passion never a job. He found his greatest joy in times spent with his family over a meal, recalling all of the wonderful memories they had made over the years. He enjoyed listening and singing along to his Italian music. He enjoyed spending quiet times in his garage or shed, fixing or looking for something to fix when there wasn't anything broken. There was not a tool or gadget to be had, making it very difficult for his children on Father's Day. He and his lovely bride enjoyed the company of the once a month get together with the "club", which was a wonderful group of lifelong friends. Francis always found peace in the very quiet of nature or sitting waving to passersby. His smile was heartwarming, his eyes always true with care and his presence will be missed greatly and honored always by his family and friends. His spirit will live every day in the hearts of those many lives he touched. Family, friends, and others whose lives Francis touched are invited to MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014. His memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
