Mary P.(Simmarano)Nardella, 87, Of Worcester, a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 with the family she cherished gathered by her side. Mary was raised in Worcester MA, the daughter of Michele and Libera (DeMichele) Simmarano and graduated from Commerce High School. Mary worked as a bookkeeper for New England Manufacturing and as an administrative assistant at the Worcester State Hospital, retiring in 1988. Mary's love, Anthony D. Nardella Sr. passed away in 1993. She is survived by the family she cherished: Michael A. Nardella Sr. and his wife Angela (Carelli) of Sutton, Marilyn Gatti and her husband John of Southbridge, Tony Nardella Jr. and his wife Lyn of Worcester. She was proud to be Gram to Anthony III and his fiancé Stephanie, Adam, Mikie and Christina Nardella. She also leaves a brother, Anthony "Tony" Simmarano, A special neice Libby Tomaiolo and nephew Michael Simmarano; among other nieces, nephews and friends. A brother, Vincent J. Simmarano predeceased her. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Our Lady of Sorrows Society, Women's Auxiliary of Eastside Post 201, and the State, County, and Municipal Employees Organization. She enjoyed summering on Cape Cod, traveling, and spending time with friends. Her most precious moments were times spent with family. Mary's funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 20 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass to be celebrated at 11:30 am in our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial next to her husband will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at prior to leaving for church.
