Carlos M. Morte, 77, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014, in Beaumont of Worcester. Carlos is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Elsa (Suarez) Morte; a son, Carlos E. Morte of Fall River; a daughter, Ileana Gil and her husband Jose' of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren, Amanda Morte, Daniel Gil, Julia Morte and Gabriela Gil. Carlos was born in the Town of Trinidad, Cuba, son of the late Jose' and Bienvenida (Mendizabal) Morte. He graduated from the University of Havana, where he studied law. He later received his Masters Degree in Education from University of Massachusetts. Carlos worked for the City of Worcester as a Community Liaison in the school department; and he later became a Teacher at Worcester South High School. He played piano at Saint Paul's Cathedral for many years and was very proud of the Jesuit education, he was afforded as a young man. Carlos loved bringing people together for good times, for education and for the formation of friendships; he was the founder and past president of the former Cuban Society of Worcester. Calling hours for Carlos will be held on Wednesday, February 12, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Entombment at Notre Dame Mausoleum, will take place privately.
