Palmena Lena Postale (Giaquinto) - 90, of Worcester, passed away on February 5, 2014 surrounded by loved ones in her home after fighting a 10 year battle with cancer. Palmena was born on November 20, 1923 in Worcester, Ma to Julia Pedone and Giuseppe Giaquinto of Italy. She is preceded in death by 5 sisters, Annie Bonardi, Clementina DiPinto, Grace Chuna , Nunzia Papagni, and Angelina Ramm and 4 brothers Anthony, Grudzianno, James and Joseph Giaquinto, as well as, her beloved husband, Arthur A. Postale. Palmena is survived by her sister, Dolores Wigren, of Leominster and her only daughter, Maria A. Fahey (Postale) of Worcester and her fiancé, George Sankavitch. She also leaves behind 3 grandchildren Christopher and Erica Wennerberg and Tara Dexter (Wennerberg) and their spouses, along with 4 great-grandchildren Justin Bennett, Zachary Wennerberg , Nathaniel and Isabella Williams and several nieces and nephews. Palmena's career aspirations began making Life Rafts for WWII, she then became a professional seamstress for Stephen Waldon Co. and finished her working days as a chef for WPI college before retiring to take care of her great grandchildren. Palmena was a member of the Society of The Mother of Sorrows. She lived her life teaching the importance of family, church and faith. Palmena's greatest legacy is her uncanny ability to fight and the importance of the Italian traditions which she passed on to many. A Woman of many talents, virtues and spirit, will live on in us forever. Palmy's funeral will be held Monday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial to be held at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. Visiting hours with the family will be held on Sunday from 3PM to 6PM in the funeral home. Interment will be with her husband in St. Johns Cemetery.
