Pasquale (Pat) G. Trovato of Shrewsbury, 76, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away surrounded by his adoring family on Friday, January 31, 2014 in Beaumont Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center after a short illness. Pat was born on March 28, 1937 in New York, NY and was preceded in death by his father Pasquale Trovato and his mother Angelina (Celentano) Trovato. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Congetta (Connie) M. (Quitadamo) Trovato; a daughter Christine E. Russell and her husband Seth of Worcester; a son Matthew M. Trovato and his wife Terri of Worcester; a sister Carmella (Millie) Trovato of Astoria, NY; his adored grandson Anthony Pasquale Trovato, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his four brothers, Joseph, Nicholas, Gerald and Umberto Trovato. Pat was a meat cutter by profession and worked at Empire Purveyors in New York City until moving to Massachusetts. He then worked for many years at local grocery stores located in the Italian section of Worcester on Shrewsbury Street, such as Boulevard Market, Argento's Market and lastly at D'Errico's Market on E. Central Street. A native New Yorker, his passion for hockey and the New York Rangers was profound. He remained an ardent and true fan, finally seeing them win the Stanley Cup in the '93-'94 season. It made his day. He also was a fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants and as a result, was teased about living in Massachusetts and still remained true to the New York teams. He got extreme pleasure from watching his grandson playing baseball and hockey games. He was so proud. Pat was a very simple man whose persona was enjoyed by all who knew him and loved him. He loved playing cards, watching John Wayne movies, doing arts and crafts, hanging bird houses all over the backyard and collecting outdoor figurines. Over the years, he and Connie shared a special relationship with cousins Jeanne and Wayne and together watched their children and grandchildren grow. Many wonderful memories were made over the years that will be forever cherished. Pat will be sadly missed by all and remembered for his kindness and love for he was, indeed, a simple decent man.
