Giorgio A. Chimento, 87, of Worcester passed away Saturday, January 18th 2014. Giorgio was born in Acri, Cosenza, Italy, one of five children of Peppino and Santa Chimento. He grew up in Italy, served in the Italian Army, married Nunziata Gencarelli and began to raise his family. In 1966, Giorgio immigrated his family to the Worcester and has lived here ever since. Giorgio's wife of 50 years Nunziata passed away June 4, 2004. He is survived by two siblings that reside in Italy, his brother Francesco and sister Rosina. He leaves his children, Joseph Chimento and his wife Julie, Elio Chimento and his fiancée Mary, Mario Chimento and his wife Richelle and Christina Laramie and her fiancé Gary; four grandchildren, Tina and her husband Ryan, Eric, Christopher and Mario Jr.; Step grandchildren; two great granddaughters Cameron and Alex. Many nieces and nephews. Giorgio worked as a laborer/Mason all his life. Many years for Prunier Construction Company before retiring. Giorgio loved to play bocce, cards, checkers and enjoyed playing the accordion. He also loved to work in his garden. He was a quiet man who loved his Italian Heritage, his wife, kids, grandchildren and the outdoors. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 22nd from 4 pm to 7 pm and again from 10 am to 11 am Thursday January 23rd in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral service will be held Thursday at 11am in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
