Owen R. Simmons, 87, of Westborough, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2014, in his home. Owen is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Rose (Goshgarian) Simmons; two sons, David C. Simmons of Westborough and Robert O. Simmons and his wife Elizabeth Beach of Chelmsford; two grandchildren, Michael O. Simmons and Sarah R. Simmons; brother Richard Simmons of Naples Florida; sister-in-law Avis Simmons of Madison, Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles P. Simmons. Owen was born in Worcester, son of the late Robert H. and Flora (Morey) Simmons. He graduated from Worcester North High School and attended Wentworth Institute of Technology. He moved to Westborough in 1969, where he lived for forty-three years. During World War II, Owen proudly served his nation in the United States Navy, including active service in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Orestes, a torpedo boat tender. Owen worked as a construction superintendent, overseeing many large construction projects in the Boston area. He was General Superintendent for Stone Construction, eventually moving to Dimeo Construction where he retired as Safety Director. He had been a member and moderator of the Armenian Church of The Martyrs in Worcester, and coached Westborough Youth Hockey for many years. He was also active in community service.
