Joseph A. Cesaitis, III, 64 of Oxford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2014 in UMASS Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Joseph is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Karen A. (Cowden) Cesaitis; two sons, Joseph A. Cesaitis, IV of Worcester and SFC Jeffrey E. Cesaitis and his wife Jennifer of Fitzwilliam, NH; two daughters, Katie A. Stevens and her husband Andrew of Oxford and Jolene A. Campbell and her husband Matthew of North Oxford; four brothers, Paul, Robert and Gary Cesaitis all of Worcester and Kevin Morrissey of Leicester; three sisters, Mary Ellen Nuzzetti, Patricia Morrissey and Kathleen Bitzas all of Worcester; nine beloved grandchildren, Jacob, Mason, Anthony, Christopher, Jack, Caleb, Sophia, Charles and David; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a grandson, Ryan Cesaitis; a brother, Daniel Morrissey and a sister, Julie Morrissey. Joseph was born in Worcester, a son of the late, Mary Anne Morrissey. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade and had lived here till 1980. He later lived in Auburn for nineteen years before moving to Oxford where he has lived for the past fourteen years. Joseph served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Joseph worked as an iron worker for the Iron Workers Union, Local 57 for twenty seven years before his retirement in 2005. He coached little league baseball; was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a former member of the Marine Corps League in Worcester. Joseph enjoyed fishing, gambling, cars and cooking but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren. A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.
