He was a member of the Worcester Light Opera Club, the Lakeview School PTA, The Holy Name Booster Club and the Jack Barry Little League. He was very family oriented; his wife, children and grandchildren were the lights of his life. He enjoyed spending time with them on Cape Cod, where he and his grandchildren would make the sun set over the ocean horizon with the wave of their arms. Being with family brought so much joy and happiness to his life. He would feed them with food that he whipped up in the kitchen, feed them with magic tricks and feed them most of all with love. The family would like to thank the kind nurses and PCA's at Saint Vincent Hospital. Both Richard and his family were made to feel loved and comforted, the kindness shown to them will not be forgotten. Calling Hours for Richard will be held on Thursday, January 16, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by a Funeral Service at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
