Richard E. Schramm, 83, of Worcester, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014, in Saint Vincent Hospital. Richard is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Virginia A. (D'Ambrosio) Schramm; two daughters, Julie A. Cutler and her husband Keith of Sterling and Debra M. Schramm and her long-time partner Matthew Bissell of Worcester; six sons, Dr. Richard G. Schramm, DMD and his wife Maria of White River Junction, VT, Barry L. Schramm of Worcester, Randy J. Schramm and his wife Anne of Shaftsbury, VT, Brian N. Schramm of Worcester, Christopher E. Schramm and his life partner Lori Bird of Worcester and John F. Schramm and his wife Kathleen of Dudley; a brother, Ernest Wall of Cambridge; fourteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by two grandchildren, Amber Bird and Ginnie Cutler. He was born in Worcester, son of the late George Schramm and Anna (Balcanoff) Wall, and has lived here most of his life. He graduated from Classical High School and Worcester Boy's Trade, where he studied to be an electrician. Richard worked for many years as an electrician and journeyman with the Electricians Local 96. He retired in 1993, from Process Systems International. He was a member of the Worcester Light Opera Club, the Lakeview School PTA, The Holy Name Booster Club and the Jack Barry Little League. He was very family oriented; his wife, children and grandchildren were the lights of his life. He enjoyed spending time with them on Cape Cod, where he and his grandchildren would make the sun set over the ocean horizon with the wave of their arms. Being with family brought so much joy and happiness to his life. He would feed them with food that he whipped up in the kitchen, feed them with magic tricks and feed them most of all with love. The family would like to thank the kind nurses and PCA's at Saint Vincent Hospital. Both Richard and his family were made to feel loved and comforted, the kindness shown to them will not be forgotten. Calling Hours for Richard will be held on Thursday, January 16, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by a Funeral Service at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
