Richard L. "Dickie" Benoit, Jr., 72, of Dudley, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 9, 2014, surrounded by his wife and loving family by his side. Dickie is survived by his loving wife of thirty-five years, Carol A. "Cooch" (Melander) Benoit; four sons, Mark, David, John and Michael Benoit; six daughters, Deborah Aubin, Judith Benoit, Lisa Colcord, Michelle Felch, Nicole and Danielle Benoit; four brothers, Ronald, Kenneth, Alan and Bruce Benoit; twenty-four grandchildren; seventeen great grand children; and a great-great grandson; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl Guy. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Richard L., Sr. and Lorraine (Perritt) Benoit. Dickie worked as a roofer for many years, he worked for several roofing contractors and had also been self employed, finally retiring from Mid State Roofing. He was a talented roofer and builder; essentially a "Jack of all trades". When not working on someone's home, he enjoyed times with his family, in fact, many times helping them with building or remodeling their homes. His family will remember him as a great family man and wonderful husband. He was more than a father, he was DAD. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 13, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, Worcester, with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. to conclude the calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at the funeral home.
