Francis "Fran" C. Dagostino, 59, of Boylston, formerly of Littleton, a talented guitar player and vocalist, passed away, on Sunday, January 5, 2014, surrounded by loving family members. Fran is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Dagostino of Littleton; a son, Christopher Dagostino of Chelmsford; three sisters, Anita Martinelli and her husband Charlie of Shrewsbury, Barbara DuPont and her husband Charles of Hampton, NH and Marjorie Porter and her husband Gary Sparks of Hillsboro, NH; his girlfriend, Jeanne Nisbet of Watertown; his best friend since elementary school, Gary Bronnes of Mendon; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, fans and friends. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Carlo and Marian (Ricardi) Dagostino. He grew up on Boylston and graduated from Tahanto Regional High School. He later moved to Littleton, where he lived for over twenty years and raised his family, before returning to Boylston last year. Fran was blessed with many things; loving family and friends, the talent of graphic design and the gift of music. He was a guitarist and lead vocalist with the Fran Dagostino Band, and was a regular performer at the Acton Jazz Café. While Fran's children were growing, he joined a weekend wedding band, to stay close to home. When the wedding business was no longer needed, or tolerable, Fran began to put his efforts into recording in his home studio. He began posting his recordings on line and subsequently was picked up by a small indie label out of Niagara Falls. He produced 2 CDs "Zetes" and "The Road Ahead". The Indie label folded soon, but Fran had built enduring friendships and the potent musical unit that is together now, playing, recording and building a large and enthusiastic following. Fran enjoyed golf and was a member of the Boylston Golf League and he loved the Red Sox. Fran's family would like to thank the kind people at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Worcester, as well as, the doctors, nurses and support staff on the 6th floor Oncology Department at Emerson Hospital in Concord; their care and compassion was appreciated by Fran and his family. Calling Hours and a Funeral Mass for Fran will be held on Thursday morning, January 9.
