HARVARD - Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Dr. Jibrayil Naoum Yusuf Phd, 65, of Harvard formerly of Amherst and Worcester, who passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 after a period of declining health. Jibrayil is survived by his two children, Larry Yusuf of Allston and Krystal Yusuf of Worcester; his former wife, Najah (Kanou) Yusuf; two brothers, George Youssef of Dudley and Joseph Chalino of Worcester; a sister, Georgette Abdelmasih Nasri in Sweden; Many nieces, nephews extended family and friends. A brother, Malki Yousef passed away in May of 2012. Dr. Yusuf was born in Hassake, Syria, a son of the late Naoum and Jamileh (Goulo) Chalino. He lived in Lebanon, graduated from American University in Lebanon and earned his Phd from the University of Bonn in Germany before immigrating to Amherst, MA in 1978 and living the past 27 years in Harvard. Dr. Yusuf settled in Harvard, MA and worked as a Financial Advisor with the John Hancock Company for the past 21 years. He was a dedicated and active member of St. Mary's Syriac Orthodox Church in Shrewsbury and St. Matthew's Syriac Orthodox Church in West Roxbury where he also served on the Church Committee. Services for Jibrayil will be held on Wednesday, January 8th at 11:00 a.m. in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Tuesday, January 7th from 5 pm to 9 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester and again on Wednesday January 8th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in St George Orthodox Cathedral.
