Catherine Hansbury

Catherine T. (Donahue) Hansbury, 91, former resident of Portland passed away in Worcester Mass. on December 29th 2013 after a short illness. Born in Portland, on May 20, 1922, she was the daughter of Frank P. and Maud (Pollister) Donahue. Catherine was educated in Portland schools, a graduate of Portland High, Class of 1940. Catherine was always proud of the fact that she never missed a day of High school. Although Catherine moved with her husband and four children from Portland many years ago; She continually reminded people she always thought of Portland as her home and traveled back as frequently as she could. Catherine volunteered for many years at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center Oncology Clinic in Worcester Mass. Catherine's husband Robert passed away in 1989. She is survived by her three children, Robert J. Jr. of Belchertown, Mass, Thomas of Amherst, Mass, Dottie Hodgson and her husband Ken of Leicester, Ma. She also leaves five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews and extended family. Catherine youngest daughter Marcia Ann predeceased her. Catherine's funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 4th 2013 at 10:30 am in St Louis Church, 279 Danforth St, Portland, ME 04102. Burial next to her husband will follow in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland. Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to Cystic Fibrosis Massachusetts Chapter, 220 N. Main St. Natick, Mass 01760. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St Worcester Mass is honored to be handling arrangements.
