Robert W. Trottier, 83 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2013 at UMASS Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Bob was a gentlemen and a gentle man with an infectious laugh and a great sense of humor. Bob leaves his precious wife of forty-eight years, Janet A. (Evangeline) Trottier; his daughter, Elizabeth Smick of Sturbridge; a daughter-in-law, Donna Trottier of Lamirada, CA; his beloved grandchildren, Amanda and Andrew Smick of Sturbridge, Tyler Trottier of California and Patrick Robert of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Shirley Overton and her husband Billy of Houston, TX and Lorraine Janzow of North Oxford; three brothers, Paul Trottier of Ormond Beach, FL, Donald Trottier and his wife Dorothy of Worcester and Richard Trottier of Pamona, CA; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Stephen Trottier and a sister, Pauline Provencher. Bob was born in Worcester, a son of the late Ted and Lillian (Boulay) Trottier. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War in Europe. Bob worked for many years in the computer and data processing field as a manager, programming analyst, systems analyst and systems designer. He enjoyed dancing, loved sports especially hunting, fishing, golfing, horseshoes and playing cards. His greatest enjoyment was attending his grandchildren's events. A period of calling hours for Bob will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Friends and relatives are asked to gather at the funeral home on Friday, January 3rd by 10 a.m. for procession to Hope Cemetery for Bob's burial.
