Gladys M. (Simonian) Jackson, 88 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Autumn Village surrounded by her loving family. Gladys' husband of fifty-seven years, Desmond S. "Des" Jackson passed away on May 29, 2001. She is survived by two sons, Dwight S. Jackson of Rhode Island and Mark G. Jackson of Milford; four daughters, Karin E. Herrick and her husband Bill of Kingston, NH., Bonnie G. Jackson and her partner Dermott O'Leary, Beth A. Jackson and Pamela A. (Jackson) Riendeau all of Worcester; a daughter-in-law, Michelle O'Malley of Worcester; thirteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Haig Simonian. Gladys was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Gregor P. and Mary (Ashjian) Simonian and has lived here all her life. She graduated from Commerce High School. Gladys worked as a deli clerk at Shaw's Supermarket for over twenty five years before she retired in 2003. She had an immense love for animals, the New England Patriots and the beach. Gladys' funeral service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A period of visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26th from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
