Ruth R. (Scarcello) Maiorano, a beautiful, loving and tenacious Irish/Italian mother and grandmother passed away with her family gathered beside her, Friday, December 20th 2013 after a period of declining health. She was 86. Ruth was born in Worcester, one of five children of Frank and Theresa (Kelley) Scarcello. She graduated from Commerce High, attended Assumption College and has lived here all her life. In 1946, Ruth married the man who became the love of her life for the next 64 years Vincent Maiorano. Together they settled in Worcester raising their three children before Vincent passed away in September of 2010. Ruth is survived by the family she loved so much, her three children, Paula J. Paldino, Vincent Maiorano and his wife Carol all of Worcester, Steven Maiorano and his wife Janice of Millbury; two grandsons she adored Michael and Steven Paldino: Her sister in law, whom she considered a sister, "Toni" Robidoux, her husband Joseph and their family of Rochdale; Nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Her four siblings, Henry and Albert Scarcello, Margaret Capalbo and Irene Maloney all pre deceased her. Ruth co owned and operated a Hair Salon with her sister Irene in Worcester and worked part time for her sister in law Toni in Rochdale. She also worked as a waitress and at onetime many years ago worked for the Worcester Telegram and Evening Gazette. Ruth was the matriarch of her family, she made sure her children and grandsons were well taken care of supported her husband who was very active in the Worcester Community, enjoyed summers with the family in Seabrook N.H. and the Summer Camp on Quaboag Lake. She also cherished the times she could spend with her family during the holidays, special occasions, playing bingo, and trips to the Casinos. She was a member of St John Church. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Monday, December 23rd from 8:30 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME and CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St before departing for St John Church, 44 Temple St. where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial in the family lot in St John Cemetery will follow.
