Lawrence J. Schiro, of Worcester, loving and beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather passed away on December 11, 2013 in his home. He was 77 years old and surrounded at the end by his adoring family. Lawrence was born on January 8, 1936 in New Orleans and graduated from Eastern High School in New Orleans. He served our country proudly in the United States Army during Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1958. He was preceded in death by his father, Luke Schiro and his mother, Charlotte (Nye) Schiro. He is survived by his wife of (51) years, Dienna V. (Warner) Schiro; two sons, Brett Schiro of Worcester and Todd Schiro of Shrewsbury, two daughters, Michele Carlson of Worcester and Tara Schiro-Anderson of Shrewsbury; two brothers, Donald and Raymond Schiro all of New Orleans; a sister, Mary Ann Boudeau of New Orleans; five grandchildren Brandon, Shane, Cameron, Danae and Kylie and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by three brothers, Theodore, Henry and Adam Schiro and two sisters, Margaret Russell and Dorothy Schiro. He retired from the Sewage and Water Board as well as the Times Picayune in New Orleans. He enjoyed spending time with his Grandchildren and loved watching and talking about sports and enjoyed cooking his Southern dishes during his retirement years. A memorial service for Lawrence will be Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
