John C. Horan

John C. Horan, 62, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 9:20 A.M. on Friday, December 6, 2013 at his home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. John was born on Saturday, August 11, 1951 in Worcester, Massachusetts the son of the late John C. Horan, Sr. and Elizabeth (Anthony) Horan. He married Sandra Chivallati on July 6, 1974 in Worcester, Massachusetts. Surviving family members include his wife: Sandra Horan of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; son: Jeffrey J. Horan and wife Melissa E. of Nicholasville, Kentucky; granddaughter: Avery E. Horan of Nicholasville, Kentucky; stepson: Mark A. McLean of Morrisville, Pennsylvania; 5 step grandchildren: Ian McLean, Amanda Mulvey, Elana McLean, Meg Mulvey and Seth McLean. His parents and one stepdaughter: Robin A. Mulvey preceded him in death. John was operations manager for Radiac Abrasives and later worked for Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He was Past President of Shrewsbury Youth Hockey Association, was member of Green Hills Country Club, St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois; he loved golfing and NASCAR, especially the Earnhardt's. A Memorial service for John will be held on Monday, December 15, 2013 at 12 noon in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA. A period of calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to his funeral. Burial will be held privately at St. John's Mausoleum, Worcester.
