Yvonne Venzor

Yvonne (Mimi) Hicks Venzor, the eleventh of thirteen children, was born on May 4, 1957 in Hartford, Connecticut to Essie (Simmons) and Charles Hicks. She completed her journey on November 15, 2013 following a brief illness. Yvonne began her formal education in the Hartford Public Schools and despite her "feisty" personality managed to meet her academic milestones. Always curious, Yvonne soon declared her independence and decided to head west via Oklahoma where she met and married her first love, Ivory Steve. From that union was born their lovely daughter, Andrea, who they both adored. Seeking a better opportunity, Yvonne relocated to Reno, Nevada where she enjoyed working as a legal secretary and occasionally visiting the casinos but later began to miss her family and returned to Hartford. After earning her degree from Manchester College, she made a career change and like two of her sisters and mother decided "kids." She applied and landed a job in the Hartford schools where she remained for many years. Due to illness, Yvonne moved to North Carolina to be close to her daughter. Yvonne was pre-deceased by her father, Charles Hicks; her mother, Essie Hicks; her brothers, Joseph Hicks, Charles Hicks, Aaron Hicks and Lawrence Hicks and her sisters, Carol Ebanks and Dianne Hicks. Left to mourn her is her daughter, Andrea Cadyma; her grandson, Ricardo Andre Harrison; her brothers, Vernon Hicks, Richard Hicks and Darryl Hicks; her sisters, Barbara Shepard, Dolores Perenyi (John), Elaine Hicks and many relatives and friends.
