Thomas D. Renaldo, 84 of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 30, 2013 in Rose Monahan Hospice Residence surrounded by his loving family. Thomas' beloved wife of forty-one years, Hope M. (Daniels) Renaldo passed away on May 22, 2006. He is survived by his two sons, Harry of North Grafton and Michael and his wife Amy of Auburn; his sister, Shirley D'Amico of Broad Brook, CT; three beloved grandchildren, Thomas, Rebecca and Benjamin; late life close friend, Claudette Thunberg. Thomas was born in Worcester, the son of the late Antonio and Philomena (Langone) Renaldo. He graduated from North High School, Class of 1947 and attended Wentworth College. Thomas and his family lived in Grafton and Cape Cod for many years and has lived in Shrewsbury since 1985. Thomas served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War where he received the National Defense Service Medal. Thomas began working as a welder alongside his father at Shrewsbury Welding for ten years. He then was the owner and operator of Shrewsbury Auto Parts and later was the manager at I & T Vending for many years. Thomas and his wife Hope opened Punchy's Pizza in West Dennis on Cape Cod. The motto was "Got the Munchy's, come to Punchy's." Thomas was a member of the Shriners International Organization, a fifty year member of the Matthew John Whittall Lodge of Freemason's and the American Legion Post 397. He enjoyed wintering in Naples, FL and traveling with the love of his life Hope. He also enjoyed playing cards at the Columbus Civic Club. Thomas was an amateur bowler during his early years and spent his later years enjoying life with his family. Tom was a kind, generous, loving man who was deeply loved by his family and respected by all who knew him. Thomas' family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the staff at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence for the outstanding care given to Thomas at his time of need. A funeral service for Thomas will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial next to his wife will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. A period of calling hours will be held on , Wednesday, December 4 from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
