Matthew C. Nelson, 20, of West Boylston and formerly of Sterling passed away, Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center. Matt was born on February 11, 1993 in Worcester to Mark C. Nelson and Barbara A. Cove. He was a graduate of Wachusett Regional High School. For nearly two years he had worked for McCarthy's Landscaping & Irrigation. He was good at his job, and was a dependable hard worker who always had a positive attitude. Matt was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his father, Mark C. Nelson and his wife Denise of West Boylston; his mother, Barbara A. Cove and her companion Andrew R. Guillotte of Rutland; his brother, Michael E. Nelson of Rutland; his sister, Nicole E. Nelson of West Boylston; paternal grandmother, Judith A. (Ramstrom) Nelson of West Boylston; maternal grandparents, Alfred J. Cove and Sandra M. (Scampani) Cove of Ashburnham; an aunt, Sandra M. Bahre and her husband Richard G. Bahre of Ashburnham; two uncles, Scott D. Nelson of Clinton and Alfred J. Cove, Jr. and his wife Sandy A. Cove of West Boylston; his cousins, Katrina L. Smaltz of Ashburnham and Ryan F. Walsh of West Boylston. He is also survived by the love of his life, Alyssa J. Swartz. He is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Clifford O. Nelson. Throughout his short life Matt was an avid outdoorsman with a love for hunting and fishing. He enjoyed simple pleasures like walking in the woods and being a part of its surroundings. Matt is now at rest, and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin. We will celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the First Congregational Church, 26 Central Street, West Boylston (please go directly to church).
