Frances Landsdowne Worley, 95 formally of Roanoke, VA and Worcester, MA passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 surrounded by the love and support of her family. She was born in Bedford County, Virginia on March 11, 1918, to the late Maude and John Landsdowne. Frances attended Lee High in 1934. She married the late Thomas Worley in 1935, and they lived in Roanoke for many years before relocating to New Jersey in 1955 and moved to be with her son in Worcester, MA 2002. Frances was a gentle and caring woman who sought to share God's love and compassion. She was able to accomplish that while working as a Special Needs Teacher at North Jersey Training School for many years and was very passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. Her devotion to her faith was ever apparent in her love for her church and prayer. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Roanoke. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas John Worley; daughter Katherine Diane Balletta; granddaughter Lisa Pantano; sisters Mary Bauman, Lois Nienke, Louise Nolan, Rebecca Collins and Brother William Landsdowne; and her parents Maude and John Landsdowne. She is survived by the family she loved and loved her; sons Harry R. Worley and his wife Lucille, Thomas C. Worley and his wife Carol, daughter Frances P. Sassano and her husband Victor; 10 nieces and 3 nephews; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Friends are welcome to call Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 318 Church Avenue, Roanoke. A service celebrating Frances's life will be held Monday at 12 noon in Oakey's Chapel with Rev. Tim Wright officiating. Interment Evergreen Burial Park. She was a beautiful person to everyone she encountered and will be forever in our hearts.
