Joseph M. Habib, 58, of Paxton died peacefully Friday November 15,2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. Joe is survived by his wife and best friend Mary M Fortunato- Habib, his two adoring daughters; Nicolette L . Habib and Krystina M. Habib both of Paxton, his twin brother Dr. John R. Habib of Worcester, his brother Dr. Thomas Habib and his wife Christine Baser-Habib of Carlsbad California , also his sister AnnMarie McPartland and her husband Dennis. Joseph also leaves his father in law and mother in law Joseph and Margaret (Tomaiolo) Fortunato, his sister in law and brother in law Madaline and Rudolph Arn, all of North Brookfield, also his brother in law and sister in law Joseph M. Fortunato and his wife Susan of Millbury, a sister in law Marjorie Habib, and a brother in law John Corbett, also many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Raymond Habib and two sisters Carol Duvault and Lucille "Susie" Corbett. Joseph was born in Worcester son of the Late Thomas A. and Lucille(Brisbois) Habib and lived here many years before moving to Paxton. He was a graduate of South High School class of "73" and also was a graduate of the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. He completed his education at Worcester State College in 1996 where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Joseph worked in the Emergency Department at the UMASS Memorial Campus for over 20 years before he left due to his illness. Previous to that he worked at the Jewish Home, the Worcester VNA, and Worcester City Hospital. He was also a licensed Real Estate Agent working for Century 21/Parent. Among his memberships, Joe was a long time member of the DMAT -MA2 Team, he was a past president of the Worcester Chorus for 3 years and served as a section leader, He was a member and Tenor for the First Unitarian Church Chorus, and was also a member of St. Columba's Church and the Quaboag Choirs.He was a member of the Worcester City Hospital Alumni Association, and the Paxton Lions Club. Joseph received the 2013 Champion of Excellence Award from UMASS Memorial Hospital. Joseph's compassion and caring ways as a Nurse naturally transcended him into his love of Music! He excelled in singing, playing the Piano and the Guitar. Music was such an important part of his life. He loved to travel and enjoyed doing Landscaping around his home. However his most treasured times where those spent with his family. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Josephs funeral will be held Saturday November 23,from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of the Angels,1222 Main St. His calling hours will be held from 4:00PM to 8:00PM on Friday. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery.
