Frances E. (Murray) D'Acri, 87, of Worcester died on November 13, 2013. She was born in 1926, the daughter of Nash and Mary (Mansur) Murray, graduated from Commerce High School, and lived her entire life in Worcester. She was employed by the City of Worcester School Department prior to her retirement. Even though she had no formal training, Fran was skilled at drawing and crafts. She enjoyed reading and volunteering to help others. She loved interacting with children in the intergenerational group that paired young students with elders in the community. Fran had a lighthearted and infectious sense of humor, making for many smiles on the faces of those whose paths she crossed. She truly treasured the relationships in her life. She forged close bonds and cultivated her friendships, many of which were lifelong. She had a sense of fair play and a generous heart. Those who knew her well agreed with her, that she was "facetiously adorable." Fran was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Robert D'Acri and their only child, Stephen D'Acri, as well as eight siblings. She leaves her cherished grandson, Jesse D'Acri; her brother, Edward Murray and his wife, Rose; her godchildren, Lisa and Barry Siciliano, to whom she was especially close and who cared for her during her final years; and nieces and nephews. Her family wishes to thank those individuals who patiently and lovingly provided her such excellent health care. A calling hour at Mercadante Funeral Home 370 Plantation St. will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013, followed immediately by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Following cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make donations in her memory are asked to consider her favorite charity: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. At her request, a tree will be planted in her memory.
