Kathleen (Mullen) Morrow, 81, of Worcester passed away peacefully Friday, November 8th 2013 with family by her side. Kathleen was born in Worcester, one of six children of Edward L. and Vera M. (Hildreth) Mullen, she grew up in Shrewsbury and graduated from Shrewsbury High School. Kathleen then moved to the Vernon Hill section of Worcester to start and raise her family, where she lived many years until moving in with her daughter and family. Kathleen accepted a position for the then Worcester State College, now Worcester State University where she touched the lives of many students and co-workers throughout her 25 year career retiring from the Graduate and Continuing education department. Devoted to her family, Kathleen is survived by her beloved daughter and son in law, Elizabeth "Becky" and Larry Riley, Sr. with whom she lived; four grandchildren she cherished and whom cherished her, Briana Lee Pascoal and her husband Carlos of Shrewsbury, Lawrence B. Riley, Jr. and his significant other, Brittany of Worcester, Janice G. and Kathleen A. Grout; five great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family. Her son, James L. Grout passed away in 2007, three brothers, Edward, Thomas and Francis Mullen and two sisters, Vera Buron and Judith A. Kowalik also pre deceased her. Kathleen was a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Church. In her retirement Kathleen's life's fulfillment was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite pleasures were shopping, going out to dinner, and vacationing with her family. You would always find her reading , she was a voracious reader, she loved to escape and be taken away by a good book. Her life was full of love from her family and received enormous enjoyment from being with them as much as she could. Kathleen will long be remembered as a caring and compassionate mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Tuesday, November 12th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, November 13th from the funeral home with a Mass at 11:00 am in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances may be made to the Huntingsons Disease Foundation, 505 Eight Ave, New York New York.
