Edward F. Staples Jr.70, of Auburn, died peacefully Tuesday October 29, 2013 in the Jewish Healthcare Center surrounded by his loving family. Edward is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years Eileen (Astrella) Staples, his two sons, Dennis L. Staples and his wife Carmen of Oxford, and David E. Staples and his wife Victoria of Fiskdale. He was the doting grandfather to David E. Jr, Daniel J. and Kathryn E Staples. Eddy also leaves a sister Judith Bonci and her husband Donald of Holden, and several Brothers and Sisters in law that he was very close with. He was a fun uncle to many nephews, nieces, and a great nephew and great niece. Edward was born in Worcester son of the late Edward F. Sr. and Rita (Liberty) Staples-Johnson and has lived in Auburn for 40 years. He was a graduate of North High School, Edward was also a graduate of Worcester State College where he received his Bachelor Degree in Teaching, and then went on to receive his Masters Degree in Education and a Masters Degree in Counseling. He was a teacher for many years at the Major Beal School in West Boylston. After retiring he became a Industrial Sales Representative for several companies. Edward also proudly got his CDL license and worked for KWL Transportation Company for several years. After retirement Eddy worked part time at Auto Parts International where he enjoyed the camaraderie of the group that he worked with. Edward was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church. He was also a long time and proud member of the Local and National Harley Owners Group. He was also a member of the Auburn Sportsman's Club and the NRA. Eddy loved riding his Harley with his friends and participated in many charitable runs. Edward also loved to hunt, fish, and enjoyed golfing. He was a true sportsman and enjoyed time with Eileen and their many Myrtle Beach friends . However his most precious time were those spent with his family. He will be sadly missed. Edward's funeral will be held Saturday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00PM to 7:00PM in the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery.
