John P. Macaruso III, 54, of Worcester passed away peacefully after a two week battle with cancer, with the family he so loved gathered beside him. John was born in Worcester, grew up in the Massasoit Rd neighborhood and graduated from North High School. Upon graduation, John accepted a position as a pressman with the Telegram and Gazette where he worked for several years. John thoroughly enjoyed spending nights and weekends with the customers and staff, at the four season's restaurant on Lake Ave, lending a hand whenever needed. They were all like family to him and he loved them very much. John is survived by his much loved family, His mother, Virginia (Toscano) Macaruso with whom he lived; his four siblings, Theresa A. Macaruso, Donna L. Bisceglia and her husband Matthew, Joseph A. Macaruso and his wife Josephine, and Michael J. Macaruso; Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is pre deceased by his father John P. "Jack" Macaruso and his sister Nancy Johnson. John was a simple, quiet and private man with a huge heart who would do whatever he could to help anyone and everyone. He was devoted to his family and loved his friend. He enjoyed driving his motorcycles and going to Saratoga every August. He will be deeply missed. A period of calling hours for John will be held Monday, October 21st from 9 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. before departing for Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St where his funeral will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial next to his father will follow in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 400 Brookline Ave Boston.
