Mary Theresa (Downey) Kelley, 81, of Shrewsbury, died Tuesday, October 8, 2013 in UMass Memorial Healthcare Center, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Her husband, Frank Kelley, died in 2002. She leaves her daughter, Linda M. Parker and her husband, Bruce; a grandson, Brandon C. Parker; a granddaughter, Jennifer L. Violette of Shrewsbury and her two children, Kayla and Joshua Zalansky of Worcester; a granddaughter Jessica Brooks and her husband, Charlie and their two children, Trevor and Eric all of Milford; a sister; Josephine Casillo of Shrewsbury; a brother, Thomas Downey of Texas; many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her faithful companion, "Fat Cat". She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles E. Steffen and her son, Edward Steffen, her brothers, John and Edward Downey. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John F. and Josephine A. (Vallely) Downey. She graduated from Commerce High School and has lived in Shrewsbury since 1959. Mary worked many years as a collector for Associated Credit Services before retiring. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed playing cards, going to Foxwoods and most importantly spending time with her loving family. Mary's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated and caring staff at Medstar Ambulance for all of their love and support over the past few years. Mary's funeral Mass will be held on Friday October 11th at 10:00 a.m in Saint Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday, October 10th from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
