Anna M. (Martini) Sbrogna,99, a long time Worcester business women, died peacefully Friday October 4,2013 surrounded by loved ones in her home. Her beloved husband of 66 years Vincent "Jimmy" Sbrogna died December 31, 2000. Anna leaves her devoted children; her son James Sbrogna and his wife Cynthia of Holden, her daughters, Loretta Mallett and her husband Albert of Auburn, Phyliss Sequeira of Marshfield, MA. Ten Grandchildren, among them Tom Mallett who cared so lovingly during her illness,and a grandniece Jan Davini who loved her dearly. Anna also leaves seven great grandchildren, and numerous loving nephews and nieces who will miss her greatly. Anna also leaves two of her dearest friends, Lucy DeFlavio and Isabell Raffa. Anna was born on November 2, 1913 in Piedmont, West Virginia daughter of the late Domenic "Murphy" and Lucrezia (Pedone) Martini and came to Worcester at the age of five and has lived here ever since. She attended Commerce High School. Anna founded Sbrogna's Auto School in 1953 and operated it until she retired and handed the business over to her daughter Phyliss. Sbrogna's Auto School is still in existence today under new ownership. Anna was a life communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church it's Golden Years Club, and the Womens Guild. She was also a member of the S.S. Maddona Addorlorata Women Society/Our Lady of Sorrows. Anna was also a long time volunteer at St. Vincent Hospital, and always was there to help for many of the church functions. Anna loved to cook and was an avid baker, her cookies graced many a family wedding, birthdays, get togethers and church fairs. Anna was most happy when she and Jimmy were spending their summers surrounded by their family and close friends at their home on Sunrise Beach in Marshfield. She will be truly missed by her family and friends. Anna's funeral will be held Wednesday October 9, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME &CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Tuesday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM. Interment with her husband Vincent, will be in St. Johns Cemetery.
