Stephen Kazanovicz, of Worcester, died peacefully Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in Cambridge, MA. He was 61 years old and surrounded by his family. Stephen was born on October 18, 1951 in Worcester and was preceded in death by his father Adolph R. Kazanovicz and his mother Theresa M. (Miles) Kazanovicz. He was a graduate of North High School and obtained his Bachelor of Science in computer science from Worcester State College. During the Vietnam War, Stephen served our country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1972. He leaves his two children, Alexandra Bailey, and her husband Evan, of Brookline, and Nicholas Kazanovicz, and his wife Meghan, of Boston; four brothers, Robert Kazanovicz of Worcester, John Kazanovicz of Reading, Peter Kazanovicz of Francestown, NH and Paul Kazanovicz of Woolwich, ME; two sisters, Jean Bonner of Beverly and Amy Ito of Cleveland, TN; his adored grandchildren, Corinne and Morgan Bailey. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Stephen is predeceased by his brother, Michael Kazanovicz. Stephen had a love of hiking, gardening and fishing. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He loved hiking the White Mountains in NH and eating lobster on the Cape. He was kind, compassionate, patient and generous. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones. Family, friends and others whose lives Stephen touched are invited to MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013. His funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon.
