Doris G. (Falcone) Settle, 94 of Oakham formerly of Boylston a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 26th 2013 with the family she loved so much gathered beside her. Doris was born in Worcester, a daughter of Italian immigrants Joseph and Lillian (Trotta) Falcone. She grew up in Worcester and graduated from Commerce High School. In 1942, Doris married the man who would become her husband and life's love for over 58 years John E. Settle. Together they moved to the town of Boylston to raise their family and lived there until John passed away in 1991. Doris continued to reside in her home until moving to Oakham a few years ago. Doris is survived by the family she loved so much; her three children, Joanne Tinsley and her fiancé Kevin Madrazo of Oakham, David Settle and his wife Gloria of Boylston, John E. "Jack" Settle, Jr. of Worcester; four sisters, Ann Kennedy, Marion Martineau and Antoinette Strand all of Shrewsbury, and Marylou Turnbull of Worcester; three grandchildren she adored, April and Shawn Lawson and Laura Settle; two great granddaughters. Re'ahna Lewis, & Julianna Maldonado; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Two brothers, Michael and Louis Falcone and a sister, Lena Dagostino all pre deceased her. Doris was a member of St Mary of the Hills Church, a founding member of its Women's Guild and a Lioness of the Lions Club of Boylston. She was a simple lady who cherished her Italian heritage, her family and friends. She loved to bowl, golf, knit, do crossword puzzles and as all mothers cook. No one that entered her home at any time would leave hungry or without having something she made. She cherished her family and took great pride in having them around and with her. She will be sorely missed. Doris funeral will be held Tuesday, October 1st from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a procession to St Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross Street Boylston where her Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial next to her husband will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held from 8:30 am to 9:30 am prior to leaving for church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Massachusetts, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472. The Settle family would like to thank the Quaboag Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center, for the care, compassion and understanding they gave to our mother during her stay there.
