Ethel J. (Marshall) Casey, 90, longtime Shrewsbury resident, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 25th 2013 with family by her side after a period of declining health. Ethel was born in Norfolk, England one of nine children of Frank and Florence (Hooper) Marshall. She grew up and educated in England. During World War II, she met a young U.S. Soldier, William J. "Bill" Casey. In 1947, they married and Ethel moved with her new husband to Shrewsbury to raise their family. Ethel and William after retirement lived for a brief 15 years in Auburn before she moved back to Shrewsbury in 2001, where she has lived ever since. Ethel worked for a period of time as an assembler the former G.E. Telecron Company before retiring. Her husband William J. "Bill" Casey passed away in 2001; Ethel is survived by her two devoted sons, Michael L. Casey and his wife Mary Rose of Shrewsbury and William Casey Jr. of Worcester; four grandchildren she cherished, Christopher, Lesley, Kevin and Sara; a great granddaughter Emily; Many nieces, nephews and extended family. Ethel was a simple woman who cherished her family, her cups of English tea, arts, crafts, the environment and especially her cats Sheba. Funerals services and burial next to her husband in Mt View Cemetery are private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Shrewsbury Senior Center, Maple Ave Shrewsbury.
