Abner Maldonado, 35 of Worcester, formerly of Naguabo, P.R. passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 16, 2013. Abner is survived by his wife of thirteen years, Hilda R. (Perez) Maldonado; his two daughters, Deborah D. and Hilda A. Maldonado; his parents, Antonio and Hipolita (Berrios) Maldonado; three brothers, Daniel Lebron and his wife Diana, Joel Maldonado and his wife Virginia and Alejandro Maldonado; his sister, Kelyam Burbank and her husband John all of Worcester; many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. He is predeceased by two brothers, Jose and Javier Maldonado. Abner was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico and lived there till 1990. He then moved to Worcester where he graduated from Burncoat High School. Abner later graduated with his Bachelors in Education and Spanish from the Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico. Abner worked for Community Healthlink as a case manager for six years. He was a member of La Grancomicion. Abner was a youth leader and teacher as his church as well as many other churches. He loved soccer. Abner was a great example to everyone, was well loved and most importantly a great father, husband and brother. A period of calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 3-6 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 23rd at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Flowers are welcome.
