Emile C. Roberson, 92, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Notre Dame Long Term Care in Worcester. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Marion P. (Teixeira) Roberson and by their beloved son, Wayne Roberson. Emile is survived by a brother, Robert Roberson of Springfield; four sisters, Margaret Walker of Springfield, Gwendolyn Hawkins of Boston, Diane Leek of Malden and Marcia Manong in South Africa; his longtime friend and companion Sandra, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by four brothers and four sisters, Wallace Roberson , Richard Roberson , Clayton Roberson Sr., Ralph Roberson Jr., Roberta Jones, Barbara Cogman, Elizabeth Trimble and Natalie Cottle. Emile was born in Dudley, MA, son of Ralph and Julia Elmira (Hazzard) Roberson. Ralph Roberson's family traced there lineage from the Barbados islands, while Julia was the daughter of Edward Hazzard and Nancy Ransom; who was a full blooded Narragansett / Nipmuc Native American. Emile has lived in Worcester for many years. He served his nation proudly during World War II in the United States Army, serving in India. He worked as a gunsmith for forty-seven years at the former Harrington-Richardson Arms Company in Worcester, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Belmont AME Zion Church, but also attended Mass at Saint Paul's Cathedral. He was a member of the Elder Clan of the Nipmuc Nation. Calling Hours and a Funeral Service for Emile will be held on Saturday, September 21, in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with Calling Hours from 11 a.m. until 12 Noon immediately followed by the Funeral Service at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
