Elias M. Houssan, 87 of Millbury, fell asleep peacefully to the Lord, Thursday, August 29th 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, (affectionately called "Jiddo"), Uncle, and a cherished friend to all; lived his life to the fullest, caring and providing for his family was his sole purpose in life. Elias' unconditional love and strong values will carry on in his memory through his 7 children, 19 grandchildren, and great-grandson. His undeniable faith in God helped him every day of his life and especially throughout the past few months. He put all his trust in God's will to get through the most challenging times of his life. Elias was an integral part of the church and various liturgies. He had an uncanny ability to memorize and eloquently chant many beautiful hymns during sacramental celebrations. Born in Aita El-Foukhar Lebanon to Mitri and Nayfe (Skaff) Houssan along with his predeceased siblings Hanna Houssan, Andraos Houssan, Florence David, and Nouhad Hanna. Elias immigrated to the United States in 1981 to provide better opportunities for his family. He is predeceased by his wife, whom he missed dearly for the past 10 years; Minerva (Ansara) Houssan. He leaves a long and proud legacy to his children: Wafa Houssan of Shrewsbury, Joseph Houssan and his family of Millbury, Nayfe Skaff and her family in Canada, Inas Wehbe and her family of Worcester, Christine El-Houssan and her family of Worcester, Andre Houssan and his family, and Michael Houssan and his family all of Millbury. He also leaves a sister, Mary Skaff of Lebanon and many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Monday, September 2nd from 5 pm to 9 pm and again Tuesday Sept. 3rd from 10:00 am to 10:45 am in St George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street. His funeral service will be celebrated at 11 am in the Church. Burial next to his wife will follow in Hope Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial donations in his name be made to St George Orthodox Cathedral Endowment Fund, 30 Anna Street, Worcester 01604. May his memory be eternal!
