Colonel Susan (St. George) Peluso (USA ret), 68, passed away Sunday August 25th 2013, surrounded by her family, at Prince William Hospital, Manassas, Virginia, after a valiant battle with Metastatic Melanoma. Susan devoted 48 years to the Nursing profession, 28 years of those to the United States Army, first in Active Duty, to include service in the Vietnam War, and for many years later with the North Carolina National Guard, where she retired holding the post of Chief Nurse for the state of North Carolina. Susan was born Susan Margaret St. George, in Worcester, the eldest daughter of Mary (Quinn) St. George and Bernard Peter St. George. She graduated of Worcester City Hospital, earning her degree and license in Nursing. She furthered her education earning three Bachelor's and five Master's degrees from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas; The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; The University of North Carolina at Greensboro; Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC; and the US Army War College in Carlisle, PA. Susan was a parishioner of All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas, VA and a former member of Our Lady of the Angels in Worcester. She was a loving human being who dedicated her life to family, her country, the community service, charities, and education. She cherished her family, especially her daughters and grandchildren. They were her life and inspiration. Susan is survived by her devoted daughters, Kristina (Peluso) Boyce and Julie (Peluso) Quinn; her sons-in-law, Robert T. Boyce and Dac A. V. Nelson; her three granddaughters, Katharine Quinn Boyce, Rachel Emily Boyce, and Sigourney Quinn Nelson; a sister; Julie Ann Granger; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A period of calling hours will be held Saturday, Sept 7th from 9:30 to 10:15 am in the Mercadante Funeral Home, 320 Plantation Street. A procession will follow at 10:45 am to Our Lady of the Angel's Church, 1220 Main Street where her celebration of life Mass will be held at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
