Mary A. (Yankus) O'Leary, 89 of Worcester passed away peacefully Friday, August 23rd in her home surrounded by family after a period of declining heath. Mary was born in Lowell, a daughter of Anthony and Veronica (Stanulonis) Yankus. She came to Worcester at the age of three, graduated from Commerce High, met and then married her life's love Daniel "Rocky" O'Leary. Together they settled in Worcester to raise their family and have lived here ever since. Mary's love Rocky O'Leary passed away in 1975 and her daughter Mary V. Dunkerly in 2010. She is survived by the family she loved so much and whom loved her as much; her three children, Daniel R. O'Leary Jr. and his wife Deneen of Norton, Catherine Tyler and her husband Robert of Austin, Texas, Maureen Lloyd and her husband Terence with whom she lived; her son in law, Alan S. Dunkerly; two sisters, Vera Mackenzie and Julia Howard both of Worcester; eleven grandchildren she adored, Melissa A. Smith and her husband Adam, Alissa K. Tyler, Amy K. Benker and her husband Bill, Jodi Lloyd, Christopher Lloyd and his wife Sherry, Jonathan M. Lloyd and his fiancée Sarah, Amanda Lloyd, Thomas R. and Anthony D. O'Leary, Annemarie Conde, Melissa and Matt Byrne. Seven great grandchildren, Zackery, Austin, Gabriel, Madison, Brady, Travis and Robert. Her devoted best friend "Tek". Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends including Debbie and Mark Byrne two very special people in her life. Two brothers, Vito and Leo Yankus and a sister, Mabel Ustinovich pre deceased her. Mary worked over 20 years in the Office of Worcester Chemical Sales in Worcester before retiring. She was a member St Anne's Church in Shrewsbury. The former St Margaret Mary Church, and the Tuesday Golden Years Club of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. Mary enjoyed bingo, dancing, and most importantly spending time with her family. Funeral services for Mary will be held Monday, August 26th at 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial next to her husband will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held Monday from 9 am to 11 am in the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Our Lady of Mt Carmel Golden Years association, 24 Mulberry St Worcester.
