Eleanor H. (Marchese) Martello, 92, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Knollwood Nursing Center. Eleanor is survived by her loving husband of nearly sixty-five years, John J. Martello; their children, a daughter, Donna Croteau and her husband Denis of Worcester and a son, John J. Martello, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth "Betty" of Goodyear, AZ; a sister, Mary Corio and her husband Guy of Worcester; three grandchildren, Melissa and her husband Nicholas, Michael and John; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers and four sisters, Flora Leahy, Kay Monfreda, Rose and Julia Marchese, Sam, Harry and Frank Marchese. Eleanor was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Angelo and Grace (Bruno) Marchese and has lived in Worcester all her life. Eleanor worked as a seamstress assistant beside her friend, Michelina Villani; she had also worked as a lunch and crossing guard at Lake View School in Worcester. She was a member of the former Saint Margaret Mary Church and was currently associated with Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Parish. She was a member of the Beato Angelo Society, the Women's Guild at St. Margaret Mary and was known as a tremendously kind and generous woman. She loved to travel, and has visited much of the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe, with her husband. She loved to be with her family and Sunday Dinners brought them all together to taste her wonderful cooking and feel the love she had for them all. Eleanor's family would like to thank the angels at Knollwood Nursing Home for the tremendous care they gave to Eleanor; they made her, and her family, feel loved and cared for. They would also like to thank the people at Summit Eldercare for their kindness and compassion; as well as the caregivers from Bright Star Home Healthcare, for all of their assistance while she was home. Calling hours for Eleanor will be held on Tuesday, August 13, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester; members of the Beato Angelo Society will gather at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. to conduct a ritual. Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 14, from the funeral home, with a procession departing at 9:30 for Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
