Elvira (Vera) Locantore, 95, of Worcester, died peacefully Tuesday August 6, 2013 in the Christopher House surrounded by her loving family. Vera is survived by her two sisters, Vincenza Pultorak of Worcester and Grace Almonte of Jefferson, two brothers, Rocco Locantore of Harwich, and Anthony Locantore of Worcester, and many nephews, nieces, and great nephews and great nieces. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Locantore, and Carmella Cammuso, and three brothers; Nunzio, Vito, and Domenic Locantore. Vera was born in Worcester daughter of the late Joseph and Adorlorata (Parisi) Locantore and lived here all her life. She was a graduate of Commerce High School, and Worcester Girls Trade School. After her mother died at a young age, Vera took on the role as mother and caregiver to her brothers and sisters throughout the years. She was a life member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Parish and its Golden Years Club, and also it's Women's Guild. She was an active member of the Church for many years along with her sisters, and was always there to help. Vera loved to travel, and took many trips throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking and a good day at the casino! But her most treasured times were those spent with her family. She will be missed by her family and friends. Vera's funeral will be held on Friday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt.Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours will be held from 4:00PM to 7:00PM on Thursday (tonight) Interment will be in St John's Cemetery.
