Louis C. Ventura, 92, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at UMass Memorial Healthcare on Belmont Street. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Rose A. (Capurso) Festa-Ventura; his three daughters, Francesca Sabo and her husband Carl of Franklin, TN, Patricia Dunlap of West Boylston and Mary Chiapulis of Worcester; a step-daughter, Diane Downey and her husband Matthew of Mattapoisett, MA; a sister, Leda Lopopolo and her husband Vito of Worcester; four grandchildren, Lisa Boucher, Joseph Vecchio, Ashley & Ryan Cunningham; three step-grandchildren, Katherine and Caroline Downey and Chris Sabo; six great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Rita (Chilberto) Ventura; three sisters and a brother, Ann Molinari, Phyllis Bellevue, Mary DeCillis and Vito Ventura. Louis was born in Worcester, son of the late Pasquale and Rita Ventura, and has lived here all his life. Louis served his nation proudly in the United States Army, during World War II. He later served in the Army National Guard for thirty years, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. Louis worked for the City of Worcester, for many years in the Department of Public Works, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church and the Greendale Retired Men's Club. He enjoyed woodworking, tending to his gardens and reading. Calling hours for Louis will be held on Tuesday, August 6, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADATNE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 7, from the funeral home, followed by a procession at 9:30 to Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester.
