Arthur E. Drapos, 78, of Onset, Mass and Naples, Florida, formerly of Worcester, passed peacefully on Friday, July 19th, 2013 surrounded by his loving family following a valiant battle with cancer. Arthur was born in Worcester, one of six children of Greek immigrants Evangelos and Theodora (Liazos) Drapos. He graduated from Commerce High School and Worcester Junior College. During his high school years, he excelled as an athlete and remained a New England sports enthusiast and avid golfer throughout his life. In 1957, Arthur joined the family business Caravan Coffee Company and worked in all facets of the operations before becoming co-owner and Vice-President. Arthur was an integral member of the business, helping to expand Caravan's reach throughout Massachusetts. He especially enjoyed forming both professional and personal friendships with his many customers. Arthur leaves his beloved wife and best friend of 52 years, Marilyn (Barros) Drapos. He was the devoted and proud father of Evans and Beverly Drapos, Philip Drapos and Dana Ball, and Anthony and Diane Drapos. He was the cherished Papou to Alessandra, Annalisa, Arianna and Anthony Drapos. He is survived by his sisters Athena Tsoules and Helen Rougas, sister-in-law Maria Leone and former daughter-in-law, Lisa (Kerkorian) Drapos. Arthur was a dear uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Nicholas, James and Alexander Drapos. Arthur was active in the St. Spyridon Cathedral community as a member of the parish council and a volunteer at the Greek festivals. He held the traditions of his Greek heritage closely and shared them with his family. Arthur was also a charter member of the Andover, Mass chapter of UNICO. Arthur was a man to be admired and respected, a true gentleman who judged few and loved many. He welcomed all into his extended family with love, warmth and kindness. His love of life was never more apparent than when surrounded by family and friends, seated on the Eastlook porch overlooking Onset Bay with a scotch and a cigar in hand. Arthur will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Tuesday, July 23rd from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be celebrated Wednesday, July 24th from the funeral home with a Service at 11:00 am in St. Spyridon Cathedral, 102 Russell St. Burial in the family lot will follow in Hope Cemetery.
