John H. "Johnny" Holland, III, 48 of Worcester passed away unexpectedly, going home to the Savior, Monday, July 1st after being stricken ill at home. John was born in Fitchburg on June 28, 1965 and graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1984. He grew up in Fitchburg and was a member of the Assembly of God church. He moved, along with his parents and sister Lisa's family, to Edgewater, Florida in 1984, where he resided for 14 years. While living there he was a faithful member of the Edgewater Alliance church and was employed by the New Smyrna Beach Utilities Co. for 10 years. John moved back to the Fitchburg area in 1998 and shortly after began working for the Worcester DPW and has been there for the past 15 years. While working there, John met his cherished wife and soul mate, also a city worker, Theresa Perrone. They married and have lived in Worcester ever since. John's wife, parents, family and friends all describe him as a very loving, hardworking and caring family man. He had a huge heart of gold, always giving and always there for everyone. John had a wonderful sense of humor that made everyone laugh, even in spite of the toughest of circumstances. He had a strong faith and love for his Lord, Jesus Christ. We now know he is being cradled in his Saviors arms! He was completely devoted to his wife, his parents and family. Nothing made him stronger in spirit than being in their company and surrounded by their love. John is survived by the family he so cherished, his devoted wife and soul mate, Theresa (Perrone) Holland; his pet "baby"; parents, John and Julie (Anderson) Holland of Edgewater Florida; his two sisters, Lisa Morin and her husband Daniel of Baldwinville, Tina Aponte and her husband Arthur of Gardner; his father and mother in law, Joseph and June Perrone of Worcester; sister and brother in law, Tina and Craig Duxbury of Auburn; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Funeral services for John will be held Monday, July 8th at 12:00 noon in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. A period of visitation will be held Monday, July 8th from 10:30 am to 12 noon prior to the service.
