Martin F. Harrity, Jr. died peacefully on Monday, July 1st, 2013, after a long illness. He had family and friends around him in his last hours. He was born in Worcester on May 4, 1964 to Dianne (LaGorce) Harrity and Atty. Martin F. Harrity, Sr. both of Worcester. Besides his parents, he is survived by the love of his life Patricia Riley, a teacher with Worcester Public Schools, his sisters Susan (Harrity) Glatki, of Easthampton, MA, and Nancy Harrity, of San Diego, CA, his brothers, Steven of Tampa, FL, Michael, of San Diego, CA, and Joseph of Worcester. Martin also leaves 10 adoring nieces and nephews, his much beloved dog Brewski, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Martin attended Worcester Public School and St. John's in Shrewsbury. He was affectionately known as Bub, and Gransky to all of his friends, and was Uncle Bub to so many children who loved him. He grew up in the Newton Square area of Worcester and moved to Spencer 20 years ago. He worked as a contractor across the state, and never let an illness or hardship keep him from a day's work. He lived his life with extraordinary but humble, courage and strength. He was a prankster with a boundless sense of humor who, more than anything, loved life. He will be missed by his many close friends and large family. Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, July 7, from 3-7pm at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St. Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Monday, July 8, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street, Worcester(All those attending are respectfully asked to proceed directly to church).
