Michael E. Soucy, 64, a lifelong Millbury resident passed away Saturday, June 29th in the UMass-Memorial Hospital, University Campus after being stricken ill at home. Michael was born in Worcester, one of two children of Maurice A. and Rena L. (Goodwin) Soucy. At a young age, Michael's father passed, his mother remarried and Michael became very close with his stepfather, Robert Ryder. He was raised and educated in Millbury, joined the U.S. Army serving his country during the Vietnam War, upon his return to Millbury, Michael founded and operated M & S Drywall and Plastering which he ran for more than 35 years before retiring. He has lived in Millbury all his life. Michael is survived by the family he loved so much, the love of his life and soul mate for the past 37 years, Kerry M. Barbour; three children his loved so much, Jade A. Lauer and her husband John in CT, Wendy L. Giangregorio and her husband Gary , Sandy T. "Pete" Barbour and his fiancée Destiny Bergeron; a brother, Ralph Soucy in Florida; two grandchildren that were his world, Joseph Cormier and Jayle Barbour; his four legged grand dog Louie: Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Michael was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He loved to travel, Deep Sea Fish, the Ocean and the Beach. Michael loved the Boston Bruins. On most days, Michael could be found caring for his yard or relaxing after work on his porch with his "Bubba" Family meant everything to Michael, especially his grandchildren, who were his life and inspiration. Nothing meant more to him than them. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, TODAY, Monday, July 1st from 4 pm to 7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Worcester. Burial will be private. Memorial remembrances in Michaels name can be made to the either, St. Anne's Church Human Services, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd Shrewsbury or the Veterans Inc., 60 Grove St Worcester. Members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles will meet at 7 pm in the Funeral Home to conduct their ritual.
