Virginia Ginger Giorgio

January 19, 1954 — June 26, 2013

Virginia M. "Ginger" (Jurgiel) Giorgio, 59 of Worcester passed away Wednesday, June 26th 2013, surrounded by devoted family, after a long battle with kidney disease Virginia was born in Worcester one of three children of Steven and Virginia (Santimaw) Jurgiel. She born, raised and graduated from Worcester Public Schools. She then entered and earned her degree as a laboratory Technician from Quinsigamond Community College. Entering into her employed life she accepted a position with the University of Massachusetts Medical School as a Lab Technician where she worked many years before retiring in 2006 due to illness. Virginia met and in 1983 married the man who became her devoted husband for the next 30 years Francis D. Giorgio. Together they have lived in Worcester all their life. Virginia is survived by the family she loved, her husband Francis; children, Christopher F. Giorgio and his wife Kim of Auburn, Sharron Giorgio, and her husband Ronald Pong of Holden, Cheryl Ann Borbone and her husband Michael of Portsmouth, RI, Frances Reed and her husband William of Greenville, SC; her mother, Virginia (Santimaw) Jurgiel of Worcester; a brother Thomas Jurgiel of North Brookfield; a sister, Christina Howe of Rutland; five grandchildren, Chad, Bill, Paul, Nicholas, and Mia: her dog, Vickie: many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Her family was what meant theworld to her. The times they could share together at family gatherings and the holidays were special. She loved to cook, babysit and play with her grandchildren, jog, swim, work on her flowers in the garden and travel, especially to the Caribbean. Visitation, services and burial in St John Cemetery will be held privately. Remembrances in her name can be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Aster Ave., Norwood, MA 02062. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
