Henry S.Cipro, "Uncle Henry""90, of Worcester died peacefully Tuesday June 25, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 64 years Anna (Palermo) Cipro died on July 10, 2010. He is survived by a brother in law Marino Palermo of Worcester and nephews and nieces whom he loved as his own children ; Emelia (Palermo) Tomaiolo and her husband Leonard of Shrewsbury, and nephews George Palermo and his wife Sally Ann of North Grafton, and Frank Palermo and his wife Annmarie of Worcester, and Jane Palermo wife of his late nephew Vincent Palermo of Sutton. and many nephews and nieces in the Cipro family. Henry also leaves many great nephews and great nieces. He was predeceased by Brothers; Peter, Frank, Anthony,Vito, Angelo,and Patsy, and Louis Cipro. Henry was born in Worcester son of the late Sabastino and Anna (Niccoletti) Cipro and lived here all his life. He was a graduate of Commerce High School class of 1941. Henry proudly served his country in the Army during WW11 and fought in the European Theatre. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. In his younger days Henry was a salesman at the former Kennedy Clothing Store for many years,that's where he picked up his keen sense of dressing up, he always looked impeccable. After leaving Kennedy's Henry along with Anna were the owners and operators of the Saveway Market on Burncoat St. for many years before they retired. Henry was a long time member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church and it's Golden Years Club. He was also a member of the Greendale Men's Club. The Froshinn Club, and the American Legion Post #201 East Side Post. Henry enjoyed being out in his garden, growing his famous tomatoes and herbs to give away to his family and friends. However his most precious times were spending time with Anna, and all his family, he will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Henry's funeral will be held on Friday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours will be held from 8:30AM to 10:30AM in the funeral home prior to leaving for Church. Interment with his dear Anna will be in St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church Renovation Fund 24 Mulberry St. Worc. MA. 01604 or to the Metrowest Hospice, 85 Lincoln St. Framingham, MA. 01702.
