Rose M. (Covello) Morocco, 88, of Worcester passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 17, 2009 in her home. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Rose's husband Samuel E. Morocco passed away in 1978. She is survived by her four children, Edward S. Morocco and his wife Mary Ellen "Mimi", James Morocco and his wife JoAnn, John Morocco with whom she lived, and Carol Morocco; a brother James Covello and his wife Florence all of Worcester; four grandchildren, Carla, Michael, Anthony and Lauren Morocco; many nieces, nephews and friends. Her son John and daughter Carol were her loving and devoted caregivers. She was predeceased by three sisters, Anna Genese, Mary Huard, Antonetta Covello, and two brothers, Henry and Joseph Covello. Rose was born in Worcester, daughter of Angelo and Nunziata (Straface) Covello. She has lived here all her life. Rose graduated from Commerce High School. She was a devoted homemaker and caregiver. Later in life, she enjoyed many handcraft and needlework classes. She worked at Comfort Products at one time and was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church, it's Women's Guild, and the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Golden Years Club. She also volunteered at the Foothills Theatre for several years. Rose's family and friends were what meant most to her in life. She cherished caring for them, being with them and sharing life with them. Rose's funeral will be held Friday, March 20th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday, March 19th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. The Morocco family would like to express their gratitude to Rose's home health aides Diane and Griselda for the dedication, care and compassion they provided to our mother through her illness.
